Mr.C, or should I call you the rain man? Joking. Just joking. Your right about other books. I’ve read LOTR. I really liked the books. Some of my other favs to read are, the Alex Rider series(the new book comes out in November), Harry Potter(of course), the Charlie Bone series, and some odd books here and there. Right now I’m reading a series called “the Midnighters”. It’s good. I was a little confused at first but I finished the first book and I’m half way through the second book. But if you don’t have any thing to read(when your nit writing of course), I highly sugest the Charlie Bone books. It’s interesting. Well I’m going onto the msg bords now.

    Dear Mr. Colfer,

I read a lot of books, tons of fantany and stuff but Lord of the Rings kinda scares me and not because of the story line I watched all the movies(including the extended version) with my sister, but it’s like how long the book is. My sister -believe it or not- read the series like four times already but for me reading it, I don’t know. I mean I love reading Harry Potter, Midnights, Pendragon, Artemis Fowl (of course) but It’s just LOTR scares me a little all the pages and how brilliant the story line is. We don’t have many book that are second read to the Holy Bibie. But I hope one day I’ll work up the courage to sit and read it. As for your nine-year-old son, has he ever read Artemis Fowl? Or at least tried? It’s funny and any boy would love it. Or maybe you should introduce him to other books too and maybe he’ll like it.

Looking forward to the next blog and your books.

Hi Artemis Fowl unofficial biographer (whatever he says to the contrary).

Thanks again for the video posts, they really do work and get across the news in a easy way.
I am sorry to hear that you have become a rain god. From your previous comments about Douglas Adams I take it you have read The Hitchhikers Guides. However, do not despair, the sun will shine, maybe, possible, soon, well, you get my meaning.
I must have missed the fact that Artemis 6 is due for January so I am jumping round the ceiling now (and typing, obviously).

Keep on posting, we all want to know,
    Rat Boy AKA James.

    Dear Mr. Colfer,

I find it hard to believe that anyone wouldn’t love the book world. My entire world is books. Its funny you should mention LOTR because I just started reading it this summer! I think I’ll have to start over though because I haven’t read it in a while. I’ve been reading everything else, Harry Potter, the Inheritance series, Twilight and New Moon, and of course Artemis Fowl, but I’ve been neglecting LOTR.
If anyone hasn’t read Twilight, and it’s sequel, New Moon, then do it! The third one, Eclipse, comes out in august and will be good to tide me over until Artemis 6! I am just bouncing off the walls now that I know it’s coming in January! Can’t wait!

Thanks for the video and typed blogs,
    -Emily

    Hey,

I love to read all types of books - not too many fantasy though. I love harry potter, lord of the rings and of course the fowl books. I agree with what you send about movies being in the wrong sequence - please dont let this happen to the artemis fowl movie! It would be a shame to spoil it. How long away untill it hits our screens or at least filming begins?

    Thanks for the blog,
    ASH

    Dear Mr. Colfer,

I am a big fan of your Artemis Fowl series. I have read all five books in that series and I have enjoyed all of them and hope you write a sixth one, too. I think the part of the vidio post about that this is the golden age for reading, because you can get a paper back seies of books for $10.00 and are very enjoyable. I also think that you could add Juliet to your next book because she is a very valuable and funny character to the seriers.

    Keep writing,
    Dah

Read “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s one of the best fantasy novels I’ve ever read. Curious to know what you think of it.

I LOVE that you video blog, it’s great that you want to commmunicate with your fans. Keep on posting, you’re awesome!

    Dear Mr. Eoin Colfer,

I love the Artemis Fowl seris. Even better than Harry Potter and Great Brain.
You are one of my favourite authors.
I am also writing a story which I hope will get published.
But what I really want to do is help people.
Anyway, I can not wait for Artemis Fowl book 6. And I seriously can not wait for the movie.
I also love your ‘Legend of…’ books. And currently I am reading ‘The Wish List’.
It is so interesting. I wonder what happens to Meg at the end.
Oh yes…I love all your books.
But may I also reccommend a book for you. ALso from one fo my favourite authors. The Tale Of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo.

    - Yours Truly,
    Shannan Mann!

Yay *happy dance* LotR is truly a classic that will live on forever, as long as people still know how to read. :D

However, I don’t think some of the younger fans have the ability to read through and understand over 1,000 pages of a book yet, but when they grow older, they sure will!

Also, yay we have a release date for your next novel, though it’s not Artemis Fowl (yet). I’m still going to get Airman, though!

    Have fun in France!

    Dear Mr Colfer,

I really should try my hand at reading Lord of the Rings. The films were amazing, but I feel slightly rubbish about not having read the series.
I totally need to start reading more!

I like the rain. Provided it’s proper rain with the splashing and the dancing - the type of rain people write poems about. Not any of that misty, gets-in-your-eyes sort that seems to both drench and chill you to the bone.

I am loving the video blogs! They are the best! You rock! Cheers!

    Mr. Colfer,
i know how you feel about the raining thing. It’s been raining for about a week here in Lame-o-town, USA.
i’m a definite fantasy freak, starting with classical fairy tales, then progressing to McKinley’s Damar books, to other such as the Chronicles of Narnia, the Tortall books by the author that I forgot the name of… her books are good, until you get to the PG-13 parts…, along with other random books that I forget (horrible of me, I know). I actually stayed away from the Artemis Fowl series till I moved here, since someone made the mistake of telling me that Artemis Fowl was just like Harry Potter, and since I am adamently against the Potter books for personal (not religious) reasons, I stayed away from them till I got curious, seeing as I had almost exhausted my library, and I was instantly hooked. I am now reading the Charlie Bone series, and rereading McKinley’s books, and reading the Dragons in our Midst series, with is a great blend of Christianity and the King Arthur ‘myths’. I’m also rewriting a book for the fourth time, but that’s another story.

Your writing has been a great inspiration to me, Mr. Colfer, and I hope your writing will still be popular in future years, so that future generations may have the benefit of your imagination.

    (0_o big words.)

    Dear Mr. Colfer

It’s really cool you’re doing this v-blog. I believe we are in an age of dreams, where the future is tomorrow and what is new quickly becomes old. perhaps it is because dreams are so real these days that we so much enjoys reading?

Since no one mentioned it, the audio could be a lot better. It’s kinda hard to hear what you’re saying, and it’s harder for us who’s native langauge isn’t english.

Hah, I actually found the knock, knock joke quite amusing =]

It rained six out of the nine days I was in France too! Fantasy books, hmm, I guess the newest fantasy book I’ve picked up is the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I didn’t think I’d like it at first. I was like, “Man, another vampire novel,” but once I got into reading it was really good. Lord of the Rings is something that HAS to be read. The movies do their best, but don’t really do the books justice. I’ve just started reading this other guy, Christopher Moore. He has some pretty interesting books. He’s a funny writer too. The first five books Amelia Atwater-Rhodes wrote were really good (though they were all vampire books). She wrote her first book at thirteen years-old. Anything by Cornelia Funke is really good too. Her endings are always a surprise; they don’t follow the normal happy endings everybody hopes for.

    Your loyal fan,
    Breeze

    Mr. Colfer,

I have enjoyed the Artemis Fowl series and I await the next. I am an advid reader. have read “Lord of the Rings” on more than one occasion. Big fan of the “Harry Potter” books, and I also enjoy Dean Koontz and Steven King (his Dark Tower series is excellent)

My son and daughter (20 and 25, respectively) were involved in soccer (football) for many years and I have been im my car as well (no video blog, however).

Thanks for the books. Greetings from Dayton, Ohio.

    Hello Mr. Colfer…

Congratualations. You have made a fangirl happy for nearly four years. I’ve been a huge fan of yours since the…um, fifth grade. I’m going into 10th now…so make that five. *sigh* Not everyone can be as smart as Artemis. Anways, just wanted to say thanks for your amazing books. They’re on my list of favorites, next to Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series, and anything by Dean Koontz. I’m also an art fan, so this whole graphic novel thing is making me happy. I just think you are an amazing guy for writing books that make kids want to read. I also think Artemis could beat Harry Potter anyday…or have Butler do it.

Thanks again, and hello from Alabama, USA.
    ~Cait, age 15
